HOW BREATHWORK CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Breathwork is designed to help you find your breath again, maybe for the first time ever. Or if you have a connection to your breath, to go deeper. The breath is our most sacred gift, it brings us life. Without the breath, we cannot have the human experience. Our breath is directly correlated to the health & well being of the mind, body, & spirit. Our breath patterns mimic the patterns in our life.

Your breath can be reprogrammed to healthy, new patterns. This reprogramming brings profound healing to the mind, body, emotions, heart, and soul. It helps us to change and to be more balanced. There is a serious link between breathwork and trauma. Think of the times life took your breath away or you cried so hard you couldn't breath. Breathing exercises help us heal. They help us take back our breath. They help us appreciate the gift of our breath, the gift that is life.

  • Assist in the release of stored emotions and limiting beliefs.

  • Clear the mind and improve focus.

  • Mental, physical and spiritual healing.

  • Reduction in physical pain.

and so much more.......

The different types of breathwork

Breathwork is an umbrella term. It’s like saying “fitness”. There are so many types of fitness you have to be more specific. like saying “crossfit.” People that do Kundalini yoga consider it “Breathwork” and it’s quite different from what we are doing.

The type of Breathwork I teach is “Conscious Connected Breathing” or “Circular Breathing” It’s done in-and-out through the mouth, it starts with breathing through the mouth into the diagram, then into the chest, and then exhaling everything through the mouth. This is repeated without pausing at the top or the bottom like a continuous link.

There are lots of different styles and methods of this type of Breathing and people come up with new titles, trademarks, and names for it every day, adding to the confusion. I can’t list all of them, but here are five of the most popular ones.

What are the different types of Breathwork?

Holotropic Breathwork

Holotropic breathing is one of the most popular styles. It’s done much longer and at a much faster pace than what I guide. They spend hours after sharing and doing Mandala art. It’s usually an all-day workshop.

Shamanic Breathwork

These classes and sessions usually have drumming and tribal music. Shamanic Breathwork may include bodywork, Art, Music, and Chakra work.

Rebirthing Breathwork

One of the oldest and most recognized methods. They have dry and wet rebirthing. Wet is done in a pool or hot tub, sometimes completely nude for both the client and the guide. (Note: The creator of rebirthing believes in immortality and that it is part of the process.)

Transformational Breathwork

The creator trademarked the name. They use things like; Toning – making long sounds while doing Breathwork or Taping – basically slapping your hands and feet on the floor.

Wim Hof Method

Wim Hof is probably the most popular Breathwork Teacher right now due to some of his superhuman feats.. His method incorporates breath holds and you usually do 3 sets of 30 breaths, Wim Hof combines breathing with cold dip therapy.

Where do all the Breathwork Techniques come from?

Anyone can teach some form of breathing and name it their own method, and even trademark it, but no one is really inventing anything new with breathwork. All of these methods have been around for thousands of years from India. That said, there is plenty of room for everyone.
